Week 12 Rankings

As usual, let's think about this before getting all up in arms, shall we? Yeah, one-loss Texas is #1 ahead of undefeated Texas Tech & Alabama. A big reason for that is their SoS - Texas' opponents have earned over 1,200 points, while Bama's are at -300 and Texas Techs' are at -100. The Longhorns and Red Raiders have both won 10 games, and Texas' loss to Texas Tech really wasn't that much of a burden since they only lost minimal points. So even with the loss, the Longhorns have achieved more this year against much tougher competition this year than the Tide or Red Raiders. That will change in the upcoming weeks, since Tech plays Oklahoma next week and the Tide take on Florida. So don't worry - as I've been saying for a few weeks now, everything will work itself out.

More changes in the conference ranks too - the ACC takes over the top spot, the SEC jumps into second, and the Big12 drops to 3rd. Without getting into too many of the particulars, this switchup is mainly because of their respective conference opponents winning or losing this weekend. For instance, the ACC didn't play any non-conference games this weekend, but the non-conference teams they've already played went 17-12. The Big12's non-conference opponents went 15-15, and the SEC's non-conference opponents went 14-17.
