Week 10 Predictions

NC State @ Clemson (-4)

The Tigers are sputtering, while the Wolfpack had a solid win against Florida State last week.

The Call: NC State by 6

The Result: Clemson 14-13
Like sands through the hourglass, so are the games of the ACC.

Iowa (-18.5) @ Indiana

The Hawkeyes are still one of the top teams in the Big10 and possibly the nation. The Hoosiers are still Indiana.

The Call: Iowa by 24

The Result: Iowa 18-13
Hmmm... something about Indiana seems to give Iowa problems. At least they only have to play them once a year.

Wisconsin @ Purdue (+20)

The Badgers need to keep pace in the Big10, while the Boilermakers are just having an awful season.

The Call: Wisconsin by 27

The Result: Wisconsin 34-13
At the top of the Big10, Wisconsin probably has the easiest finishing path. Though they might run into some trouble in Ann Arbor...

Maryland @ Miami (-9)

I don't know that the Hurricane offense can get anything going without Harris running it. Maryland hasn't really impressed, but they're still 6-2.

The Call: Maryland by 3

The Result: Miaimi 26-20
Apparently it's okay if Harris needs more time to return. Are the wheels falling off the Terrapins? They'll go bowling, but 7-5 seems pretty likely.

Baylor (+9) @ Oklahoma State

Who woulda thunk this would be as big of a game in the Big12 South as it is? The Bears are still flying high after their win against Texas last week, but the Cowboys are rolling right now.

The Call: Oklahoma State wins, but Baylor covers the spread

The Result: Oklahoma St 55-28
The Cowboys showdown with Oklahoma on the 27th should be for all the South marbles. They just might have a chance...

Temple (-3) @ Kent State

I'm not trying to ride the Owl train here, but only 3 points to the Golden Flashes?

The Call: Temple by 11

The Result: Temple 28-10
Yup.

Alabama v LSU (+6.5)

Nah, Bama will have this one well in hand by the middle of the second quarter.

The Call: Alabama by 17

The Result: LSU 24-21
Nope. Eatin' grass, teeterin' on the edge, pullin' it out somehow.

TCU @ Utah (+5)

Game of the week here. Both of these teams can put up a lot of points while holding their opponents to few. But the Horned Frogs defense is just a bit better.

The Call: TCU by 7

The Result: TCU 47-7
Okay, a whole lot better. Than basically anyone in the country. No question.

Hawaii (+21) @ Boise State

Another big game here, even though the spread doesn't seem to think so...

The Call: Boise State wins, but Hawaii covers the spread

The Result: Boise State 42-7
And the Broncos aren't chopped liver either. But we already knew that, didn't we?

Northwestern @ Penn State (-6.5)

Sorry, JoPa - gotta make the upset call here.

The Call: Northwestern by 6

The Result: Penn State 35-21
And a bad call it is. Looked good a halftime, but that was the second biggest collapse of the week behind Colorado. The Nittany Lions needed that one bad, seeing as how they're probably looking at finishing 1-2.

California (-14.5) @ Washington State

The "Cal sucks on the road" meme gets put to the test today.

The Call: California wins, but Washington State covers the spread

The Result: California 20-13
Well, that wasn't the most inspiring win, but it's a start. Too bad the Bears won't get a chance to build on it this week.

Arizona @ Stanford (-8)

Even with some tough games to go, especially for the Wildcats, this one is for second place in the Pac10 and a possible Rose Bowl berth, depending on how things shake out. That makes it rather big...

The Call: Stanford wins, but Arizona covers the spread

The Result: Stanford 42-17
The Cardinal need to pray for an Auburn loss - it's the only way they're getting to a BCS bowl, even being the best one-loss team out there. (C'mon, do you really think LSU would beat them right now? Maybe at home, but possibly not.)

Kind of a wobbly weekend - 8-4 straight up, 6-6 against the spread. Somewhat acceptable.
