BCS National Championship (8:30pm, 1/10)

Oregon (+2) v Auburn

Okay, the big one. First to review, I've done pretty well in calling these bowl games - 20-14 both straight up and against the spread. Which brings me to 148-65 (69.4%) straight up for the year, and 118.5-94.5 (55.6%) against the spread for the year. I'd have to go back and look, but it's probably the best year I've had calling the games. With all that said, I really don't have any idea what to make of this one.

There's almost too many stories, too many matchups that are razor thin, and it's probably going to come down to which team has the ball at the end. Oregon's D is underrated and can generate turnovers. Auburn offense is big and much more than just Cam Newton. Will Auburn's D be able to keep up with the breakneck pace of the Duck's attack? Will the Oregon offensive line be able to hold back the Tigers and Fairley? Oregon will win some of these battles, and Auburn will win others. I don't see a blowout here, but if one were to happen, sorry TCU - you're not gonna have many people on your side anymore.

If I were betting real money, I'd stay the hell away from this one. But since I'm not...

The Call: Oregon by 7

The Result: Auburn 22-19
Finally an exciting championship game. The big win for the Tigers was their line play, which enabled them to run their offense as they wanted and disrupt the Duck attack. Oregon just couldn't get into rhythm the entire game, keeping up the sustained drives they're used to. Major props to Auburn for a stellar season.

the Sugar Bowl (8:30pm, 1/4)

Ohio State v Arkansas (+3)

Yeah, there's been a whole lot of noise around the Buckeyes since the end of the season, while the Razorbacks have just been quietly going about their business. So either the distractions will motivate or be the downfall of Ohio State. I think Tressell can focus his guys...

The Call: Ohio State by 13

The Result: Ohio State 31-26
Another BCS game with a big turnaround at the midway point - the Buckeyes hang on just barely after a big first half. Props to the Razorbacks though for fighting back and correcting the fundamental miscues that kept hurting them in the beginning.

the Orange Bowl (8:30pm, 1/3)

Virginia Tech v Stanford (-3.5)

Great matchup here. The Cardinal were one of the toughest teams this season in most facets of the game, while the Hokies rebounded about as big as you can to reel off eleven straight wins en route to this game. Defense will be the key, but Stanford is just too strong up front.

The Call: Stanford by 7

The Result: Stanford 40-12
We knew Stanford was capable of dominating, but I don't think anyone really thought it'd happen the way it did in the second half there, against a VT defense no less. Let the Luck & Harbaugh hype officially begin.

the Fiesta Bowl (8:30pm, 1/1)

UConn (+15.5) v Oklahoma

Nobody is giving the Huskies much of a chance in this one, though they have reeled off five straight wins. The Sooners had some slip-ups in the Big12 this year, but still managed to win the conference, yet again. They should roll.

The Call: Oklahoma by 17

The Result: Oklahoma 48-20
I know it was against UConn, but a BCS bowl win is a BCS bowl win, and Oklahoma needed this one bad.

the Rose Bowl (5pm, 1/1)

Wisconsin v TCU (-3)

Really looking forward to this one. Should be a great matchup between two powerful, determined teams. The Horned Frogs are undefeated and have rolled basically everyone they played this year, while the Badgers have been absolutely crushing opponents since October. Should be a close one.

The Call: TCU by 4

The Result: TCU 21-19
Not that close, jeez. You gotta love how pumped the Horned Frogs were to win the game and not even think about their lack of a national championship shot. Kudos. The Badgers were looking good in the first quarter, but once TCU figured them out, they just couldn't adjust.
