GoDaddy.com Bowl (8pm, 1/6)

Middle Tennessee State v Miami OH (+2)

Gotta go with the better record here, even though the SunBelt is doing better than expected this bowl season.

The Call: Miami OH by 7

The Result: Miami OH 35-21
Prop to the Redhawks for a huge turnaround from last season. Now the tricky part is maintaining it...

Armed Forces Bowl (12pm, 12/30)

Army v SMU (-7)

Neither of these two have had a great season - it'll come down to which offense is better, the Black Knight running game, or the Mustang passing game.

The Call: Army by 3

The Result: Army 16-14
Well, the SMU passing attack was okay - except for the fumble & 2 INT's. That means that Army's 199 yards on the ground was good enough.

Little Caesars Bowl (8:30pm, 12/26)

Florida International v Toledo (even)

The Panthers turned it up after a tough start to the season, but never beat anyone decent. The Rockets did better in the MAC, so they get the nod.

The Call: Toledo by 4

The Result: Florida International 34-32
An entertaining game, good comeback, gutsy play - solid. Props to the Panthers.

Hawaii Bowl (8pm, 12/24)

Hawaii v Tulsa (+10)

I'll be honest - I haven't paid to much attention to the Golden Hurricanes this year. Sure they beat Notre Dame, and are riding a 6 game winning streak, but I've been a fan of the Warriors season this year. They got a piece of the WAC crown, and have the capability to outscore almost anyone they play.

The Call: Hawaii by 17

The Result: Tulsa 62-35
When you throw pick-sixes, plural, you're digging with a backhoe.

Poinsettia Bowl (8pm, 12/23)

Navy (+3) v San Diego State

The Aztecs have been overlooked all year, and they won the games they should have. I don't know if I've ever picked them before, so why not start now?

The Call: San Diego State by 7

The Result: San Diego State 35-14
With each team rushing for over 230 yards, I guess the water didn't really slow things down. Two really good seasons from 9-4 teams.

Las Vegas Bowl (8pm, 12/22)

Utah (+16.5) v Boise State

Yeah, the Broncos are going to get back to form in this one.

The Call: Boise State by 21

The Result: Boise State 26-3
Voila.

St. Petersburg Bowl (8pm, 12/21)

Southern Miss v Louisville (-2.5)

The Cardinals have been mediocre this year, while the Golden Eagles put up respectable numbers in CUSA.

The Call: Louisville by 6

The Result: Louisville 31-28
Lotsa presents for the Cardinals in that game. Gift-wrapped and everything.

Saturday, December 18, 2010

New Orleans Bowl (9pm, 12/18)

Ohio v Troy (-2)

The Bobcats have come on strong after a rough start, while Troy fell off a bit in the SunBelt.

The Call: Ohio by 7

The Result: Troy 48-21
Yeah, that was a crap shoot of a guess. Props to the Trojans for finishing strong.

Humanitarian Bowl (5:30pm, 12/18)

Northern Illinois v Fresno St (+1.5)

The Huskies have the better record, but they also have worse losses - all of the Bulldog's losses came to solid teams. How much will the loss in the MAC championship game deflate the Northern Illinois team?

The Call: Fresno State by 4

The Result: Northern Illinois 40-17
Not a whole lot, apparently.

New Mexico Bowl (2pm, 12/18)

BYU (-11) v UTEP

Both of these teams are 6-6, but the Cougars are 4-1 since the middle of October, their only loss being a close one to Utah, while the Miners are 1-5 in that same span. BYU should be able to control the game and cover.

The Call: BYU by 13

The Result: BYU 52-24
Yeah, that was pretty much a one-sided affair.
