Week 3 Rankings

Well overall, things are holding pretty normal in the big picture. I-AA teams are 6-63 against I-A, with 4 of those wins coming against BCS teams. That's around average for the season, though some teams still have I-AA cupcakes to go.

The non-BCS conferences are 10-52 against the BCS conferences, with Boise State and the big boys of the MtnWest (Utah, BYU, TCU) making up 5 of those wins.

Home field advantage is at about average for this time of year too, right at about 75%.

In the conference race, the Big12 and Big10 are neck and neck at the top at 27-5 and 26-6, respectively. The SEC is behind them at 19-3, and the Pac10 has the SoS advantage with their non-conference opponents sitting at 38-30. Big fall off to the ACC & BigEast from there, and surprisingly the WAC and CUSA are at the top of the non-BCS pack, with the MtnWest sitting at a not-too-good 9-12.

See, the team rankings are already starting to sort themselves out. Texas, Alabama, Nebraska, and Oklahoma are already in the top 10, while Wisconsin, TCU, and Utah are hanging around too. Some notables so far are Arizona at #2, Northwestern at #8, and NC State at #12, and Missouri at #14. Will they be able to hold on to those spots as conference play begins? Well, Arizona might. Toughest SoS so far is UCLA who's opponents on the year are a stellar 27-8 so far.
