Analysis: The Gamecocks' rankings aren't the worst, but they're pretty close with three Bottom 20's. They've only played three I-AA teams, but two of those were in 2006 & 2007 (and there's another in 2008) - not a good trend to see. Their usual menu includes Clemson, maybe another BCS team (but maybe not), and two average to below average non-BCS teams.

Fact: In the BCS era, South Carolina has only played two teams with a 10+win season. They haven't played a single elite team.

Fact: The rivalry with Clemson doesn't do much for South Carolina, but it doesn't hurt them too much either. The Tigers are always average between 6 & 7.6 wins per season, they're BCS, and half the games are at Death Valley, but they have few votes and no 10+win seasons.

2008 Outlook: The game with Clemson is away this year, which makes it harder, but the home games are easy - NC State, UAB, and I-AA Wofford. Bottom portion of 2008 easily.
