Week 13 Power Rankings

The one thing I hope you can take away from this post is an inkling that maybe Boise State isn't as overrated as people have made them out to be these last few days. Yes, they lost a game. It's happened to all but three other teams this year. And their loss could arguably be one of the best losses out there - on a missed FG, in OT, to a 10-1 team. Are they suddenly not worthy of being in the top 10? I'd say they're still a top-7 team, possibly a top-5 team. (Really, on a neutral field, I'd pick them over any but Auburn, Oregon, TCU, and Stanford.)

But all that is subjective. When we break down the numbers and statistics, they're still playing at an extremely high level. Their D has always held opponents below their average against other teams, in both yards and points, every game, and their offense has never scored less than 120% of their opponent's average. Their offense is third behind Oregon & Alabama, and their defense is second behind TCU.

So while they may no longer "deserve" to play in the title game or a BCS bowl, they're still a tough team to play, period.
